These are some of the very same principles guitar teachers I coach in the Elite Guitar Teachers Inner Circle are using to earn multiple 6-figures per year, teaching guitar part time.

Here is how you make more money teaching guitar:

How To Earn More Money Teaching Guitar

Now let's dive deeper into each one and discover even more secrets for how to make more money teaching guitar:

How To Make More Money Teaching Guitar Tip #1: Teach Guitar In Groups.

Yes, I know that guitar teachers hesitate to teach in groups because they fear their students won't receive enough individual attention.

And they are right – your students won't. But here is the thing: 1-1 attention isn't 'the thing' that makes students better players.

Your students also need: real-life training of playing with other people, coaching on how to overcome stage fright, develop good practice habits (that they will use to improve faster between lessons), and other skills that 1-1 lessons will never give them.

These skills develop much faster when students learn in small groups than they could in a 1-1 lesson where students only play in front of you.

Sure, there are challenges to overcome with teaching groups… such as deciding how to best teach a group of students at different skill levels, ages and personality types. But this is a skill you can learn to develop with guitar teacher training.

But this skill is worth developing, because it's much more lucrative for you (the guitar teacher) to teach guitar in group lessons than to teach 1-1 private lessons.

When you teach guitar in groups, you get paid by several students for the same hour, while those students improve much faster than they could in private lessons. This makes it possible to easily earn more money teaching guitar (without working a lot of hours).

How To Make More Money Teaching Guitar Tip #2: Improve Your Guitar Student Retention.

The longer your guitar students take lessons from you, the easier it is to grow your income (because you don't have to constantly fill in holes in your schedule from the students who quit).

And here is the thing:

It's much easier to keep a guitar student happily taking guitar lessons with you than it is to advertise to get a new guitar student.

Something else:

The longer guitar students stay with you, the more money you can afford to spend to attract new guitar students (because each new student becomes worth much more money to you).

Think about it: if you knew that – on average - a guitar student stayed with you for 4 months @200 per month, each new student is worth – on average - $800 to you.

So, when marketing, you can reasonably spend some amount up to $800 to attract a new student and still turn a profit.

But if a student – paying the same amount of money – stayed with you for 20 months instead of 4… they are now worth a whopping $4000.

This means you can easily spend a whole lot more than you could before to acquire a guitar student and still be very profitable.

How To Make More Money Teaching Guitar Tip #3: Show Your Guitar Students Why They Ought To Come To Lessons Multiple Times Per Week.

When you have a student attend your guitar lessons two-four times per week, that one student is now worth the financial equivalent of two-four students.

But beyond helping you make more money teaching guitar…

When your guitar students attend lessons multiple times per week, you can help them become better guitarists much faster by:

- training them to practice guitar in real time. This ensures that your guitar students practice correctly at home when you are not there and makes their progress much faster.

- answering their questions

- fixing their mistakes before they turn into bad habits

- making the learning process more fun and mentoring them when they feel frustrated.

How To Make More Money Teaching Guitar Tip #4: Get Training To Improve Your Guitar Teaching And Marketing Skills.

The former helps you attract more students through word of mouth and referrals… while the latter makes your advertising efforts a lot more effective.

And on top of that…

When your guitar students see you investing time and money into leveling up your guitar teaching skills for their benefit…

They become more motivated to do the same in their playing. This directly helps your retention efforts too, making it much easier to make more money teaching guitar.

How To Make More Money Teaching Guitar Tip #5: Market Your Guitar Lessons All Year Long, Especially During Recessions And The Summer Months.

Most guitar teachers cut back on marketing in a slow economy (and in the summer months, because there are generally fewer students looking for guitar lessons). But the smart and successful guitar teachers (who make a lot of money) go harder on advertising during such months.

Why?

Because there are guitar players looking for lessons all throughout the year.

And if there are fewer teachers advertising to them, it becomes much easier to convert them into your actual students and make more money teaching guitar.
