Question: When I practice guitar, sometimes I have very good days when I play and some are very off and not productive. Do you have any guitar practice tips to help me with my consistency?

Tom Hess's Answer: A very effective way of avoiding non productive days is to incorporate the concept of "intelligent variety" into your guitar practicing. This means that when you practice guitar you shouldn't be focused only on learning new things and instead should also focus on applying and integrating old skills and moving closer to mastery with them. Doing this will not only improve your guitar playing faster, but will also keep things from becoming monotonous and routine (which is one of the contributing factors to low productivity).

A great guitar teacher (who understands and uses the approach above with his students) can successfully help you learn how to practice guitar and apply these concepts into your guitar playing.
