Alex Kehoe is an exciting talented electric and acoustic bass guitarist based in London with over 12 years experience in the studio and live performance with a huge number of acts ranging from original bands and songwriters to professional cover bands. Alex is available for session and live work as well as private lessons in the London area.
Alex started playing bass at the age of 13 when a couple of friends were in need of a bass player for their Nirvana/Blink 182 cover band. Although he didn’t even know what a bass guitar was at the time let alone how to play one he decided to give it a shot and has never looked back since. From that moment on he was instantly hooked and spent the rest of his teens constantly playing live with various bands around the country and often found himself in the recording studio working with Matt Terry (Noisettes, The Enemy). After completing High School, and in keeping with this family’s 7-generation tradition, he took to sea and joined the Royal Navy serving as a Weapons Engineer Submariner responsible for firing Spearfish torpedoes and Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles. Despite the busy schedule and unpredictable nature of the work, his bass playing didn’t stop as he played for live cover bands as well as doing season work whenever he knew he could be spared. It was during this time he got the opportunity to work with Steven Williams (Sting, Britney and owner of Chapel Studios) on a music video for a track that he himself had produced. Alex also used this time productively to “master” the bass to the best of his ability by covering aspects he had neglected during his early years such as learning how to read music, advanced bass techniques such as double thumb slap and harmonics and has now written music articles for a number of online resources.
Develop a thriving career in the music business.
