Question: I want to know how to improve fretting hand speed and technique, as my right hand can play many things up to speed, but my left (fretting) hand cannot play as fast.

Tom Hess's Answer: To help your fretting hand catch up with your picking hand, use the following approach: First, think of a guitar exercise or lick you are already familiar with. Next, begin playing it by picking every note TWICE. Spend some time to work on this every practice session. Over a short period of time, your hands WILL begin to synchronize together.
